Situated
less than 20 minutes from Newcastle, Earth Balance
is just off the A189 at the heart of Urban South
East Northumberland. In 1989 a group of forward
thinking people from the community, business and
local council worked as one to turn this vision
into a reality, and called it Earth Balance.
These
people, working side by side, using 220 acres of
up until then undeveloped land, brought together
a dedicated group of workers and volunteers to bring
their vision to life. It is an ongoing project which
plays host to a range of like minded businesses
who use the idyllic setting of the site to carry
out their trade. |

Earth Balance 2000 operates, as a company limited
by guarantee and members are appointed in accordance
with the revised Memorandum and Articles of Association
of the Company lodged with Companies House in
June 2003.
The
Charity continues to provide accommodation and
support for a wide range of small businesses.
This contribution to enterprise is significant
in an area where there are very low levels of
business start ups.
The
Board and the Executive management of the Charity
continues to provide the management skills that
give the organisation a sound professional base
upon which decisions are made and as a result
the Charity has been successful in maintaining
this resource through the pursuit of small scale
but viable projects.
The
Board is very careful not to overstretch that
resource, and has at all times to balance that
approach with the high expectations that many
have for the site.
